Hero MotoCorp took the distribution of Harley Davidson motorcycles in India. Apart from the conventional job of importing, selling, servicing and making spare parts available, there is more to this deal – that there will be new motorcycles that will be jointly made by the duo.
In a big update, last month, Hero’s Chief Financial Officer, Niranjan Gupta revealed that development of mid-capacity bike(s) has already begun. And the major confirmation is that it will be sold under both the brands of Hero and Harley!
Let me also clarify that there has been no talks of the displacements that these models will come, however, Niranjan did, subtly, hint at Royal Enfield in his statement. This suggests that we may be up for something between the 300cc and 500cc range (or slightly bigger). You can read Niranjan’s statement here.
And when we have heard from the horse’s mouth, there will be various rumors and speculations that will now fly till the launch of these models. In one such instance, a digital artist has imagined his version of how both the models may look.
He believes that this will be a dual cylinder platform. The Harley’s variant looks closer to the Street family and is sportier in design. On the other hand, Hero’s version of the same platform looks slightly subdued and relatively basic. Both of them are designed as city cruisers.

Since there are no spy pics or any sneaks, there, obviously is no basis of these designs. It is just the artist’s imagination at play here.

However, I am of the opinion that, instead of cruisers, Hero-Harley’s motorcycles may more be inclined towards the roadster styling, similar to the one that Qianjiang has made for its 300. We also have Harley’s officially revealed design sketches of its promised small motorcycle (with Qianjiang) for reference (both pictured above).
