BMW G310 GS Starts Arriving in Dealerships: All Details

BMW G310 GS price is on the higher side but it is the cheapest it gets to own a reasonably powerful and reliable ADV in India…

After Himalayan, the next motorcycle that had all the adventure enthusiasts hooked onto is the BMW G310 GS. And apart from the roadster G310 R (read launch story), BMW has recently launched the small GS in India. And shortly after that, the motorcycle has started reaching dealerships as posted by Tusker BMW – authorised BMW dealership in Bangalore. We also have a whiff that deliveries have also commenced in few cities (confirmation pending).

It continues with the same 313 cc, water cooled, single cylinder, 4-valve, DOHC engine capable of churning 34 PS of peak power at 9500 rpm and max torque of 28 Nm at 7500 rpm. The engine is bolted on a tubular steel frame and is mated to a 6-speed transmission.

41 mm upside down front forks do duty which have a travel of 180 mm (same for the rear suspension as well). The BMW G310 GS, which is the smallest of the GS motorcycles, gets a larger 19 inch front wheel for your outdoor excursions. What could have been better is the 11 liter fuel tank volume which will limit the range of the motorcycle.

Braking duties are performed by a 300 mm single disc brake (with 4-piston caliper) upfront and a 240 mm single piston single disc at the rear. BMW is also offering switchable ABS with a button on the switchgear (it is not switchable on G310 R).

Being an adventure-oriented motorcycle, it has a high standard saddle height of 835 mm and going by the terminology BMW has used, it appears to be adjustable. It can be lowered till 1840 mm and increased uptil 850 mm in ‘comfort’ position. With all the fuel and other liquids, it has an unladen weight of 169.5 kg.

Yes, the prices are on the higher side but we will want to reserve our judgement on the overall product till we test ride it. The closest two motorcycles to the GS are Himalayan (at 1.7-1.8 Lakhs) on one side and the Versys 300 (Rs 4.7 Lakh) on the other. The direct rival to it will be the recently-officially-announced and spied KTM 390 Adventure!
