Benelli TRK 251 is definitely one motorcycle we would love to get in India. Unveiled first at EICMA 2017, TRK 251 is  basically the smaller sibling of the TRK 502 which we will get in India early next year. The 251 is being termed as an adventure “cruiser” by the company – to spread the message that it is more of a road motorcycle which can take some off-roading, instead of portraying it as a thorough-bred off-road machine.

In a latest update, the India bound ADV was showcased at the Thai Motor Expo 2018 pictures of which we have inserted on this page (credit Indianautosblog).

A single cylinder 250 cc liquid cooled engine powers the motorcycle which is capable of producing 26 PS of peak power at 9250 rpm and 21.2 Nm of max torque at 8000 rpm. It is coupled with a 6-speed gearbox.

It features 41 mm USD (upside down) front forks, 51 mm travel rear monoshock, aluminium alloy wheels, 280 mm single disc with 4 piston calliper at the front and 240 mm single rotor with single piston calliper at the rear. It runs a 17 inch 110/70 front and 150/60 rear tyre set up, has a 17 liter fuel tank and weighs 153 kg.

According to Autocar, Benelli, with their new partner Mahavir, has plans to introduce the TRK 251 in the Indian market by the end of 2019 ie next year!

TRK 251 is a mass-market motorcycle developed by Benelli for evolving markets like ours. It looks tailor-made for our kind of conditions and requirements. Single cylinder also means that it could be priced reasonably. Let us hope they can manufacture it locally!

    153 kg is the dry weight OR wet weight ?

  2. Few reason why it is better to avoid TRK 251:
    1. Unnecessarily placed rear set foot pegs. Compared to TRK 502 the rider’s feet will be placed like a R15 or ktm RC series ergonomics. May be Benelli is sharing some components from previous models.
    2. the 90 degree L shaped silencer below the engine is a flop in TRK 251. Just take a look at 502’s silencer, how nicely done to avoid scrapping.
    3. Thinner seat padding compared to TRK 502 or Versys 250/300 or suzuki v strom 250.
    Other secondary points:
    1. Headlight design is not as aggressive as 502
    2. No off road tyres (Though can be changed)
    3. No mud protector for front suspension
    4. No rear tyre hugger mudguard.
