The maxi-scooter segment in India will have multiple new entrants in the comings months from the leading two-wheeler brands
In the last financial year (FY26), we witnessed the launch of two maxi-scooters in the form of Hero Xoom 160 and TVS Ntorq 150 in the Indian market. Now, we have learnt that at least three more such models will be introduced in the coming 9-12 months in India. Several leading two-wheeler brands such as Yamaha, Honda and TVS are readying new maxi-scooters with liquid-cooled engines for our market and they are most likely to go on sale within this fiscal year. Let’s talk in detail about the launch of big maxi scooters in India in 2026-27.
Recently, it was learnt that TVS is working on an all-new maxi-scooter which could be introduced by late 2027 in the Indian market. It will be equipped with a newly-developed 160cc liquid-cooled engine to take on the likes of Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Xoom 160. The maximum power output could be around 14-15 bhp. We might see the first glimpse of this new 160cc maxi scooter at the EICMA 2026.
The new TVS 160cc maxi-scooter will be locally manufactured in India at the Hosur factory in Tamil Nadu while also being exported to several global markets, including Europe. TVS is likely to roll out the new premium scooter with connected features and advanced technology. It could borrow a few bells and whistles from the X electric scooter, which is quite a feature loaded offering.

Yamaha is ready to present yet another maxi-scooter after the Aerox 155 in the Indian market in the form of the NMax 155 by late 2026. It comes with multiple premium features such as Ride Modes, Dual-channel ABS, 4.2-inch TFT display, Turn-by-turn Navigation, and all-LED lighting. The NMax 155 is presently sold in several Asian and European markets, including Singapore, Indonesia, and the UK.
Yamaha NMax 155 will be powered by the same 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that we see with the Aerox. This engine is capable of churning out top power of 14.8 bhp and peak torque of 14 Nm. It will be locally developed at Yamaha’s production facility in Chennai for a highly aggressive pricing. It has been on sale for more than a decade since it globally debuted in 2015.

A few days back, Honda filed the design patent of the ADV160 in India. Now, it is rumoured to launch within the next 6 months in our country. Honda ADV160 will be locally developed in India for domestic sales as well as exports. Riding on 14-inch front and 13-inch rear wheels, the maxi-scooter comes with telescopic front forks and dual-shock rear suspension. It will be powered by a 157cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine which generates top power of 16 bhp at 8,500 rpm and peak torque of 14.7 Nm at 6,500 rpm.
