In what comes as a big respite, auto makers are now restarting operations at their facilities. It must be known that due to the deadly and highly contagious COVID-19 pandemic, auto manufacturers closed production at all the facilities based on the Government’s advisory in March 2020.
With relaxations in lockdown for few zones from 4th May onwards, India Inc is trying to get back to normal. Along with other makers, TVS Motor has also commenced operations at all its factories in Hosur, Nalagarh and Mysuru.
TVS informs that it has come up with a comprehensive manual for all its employees which necessitates safety guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus. TVS has ensured social distancing and it will maintain highest levels of hygiene at all its workplaces.
Additionally, it is also offering Work from Home to personnel whose presence within the factory is not essential.
With a major exodus of workmen, truck drivers along with a lot of other bottlenecks, it will be long before normalcy returns. But this is a step towards the restoration of the economy which has been heavily impacted with the whole country coming to a standstill!
Last financial year, TVS registered total sales of 24,10,755 units which were 23 percent lesser than the preceding year. And for the first month of the new financial year, the Chennai-based maker has reported zero unit sales in the domestic market.
