TVS’ 300cc Motorcycle Based on G310R Confirmed for Launch Next Year: Official

The collaboration between BMW and TVS which was signed back in 2011, has only recently revealed its first product, the G310R. While it will be sold under the BMW Motorrad brand name in the world as well as India, it is obvious to expect TVS to produce its own version based on the same. However, all what you have heard so far were speculations and rumours. We have already seen this kind of platform sharing with the Bajaj and KTM products.

In an exclusive conversation with BikeAdvice during the media ride of Apache 200, a senior member of the management, for the first time, officially confirmed that TVS is working on their own version of the G310R. He also revealed that it will be launched next year. We tried to dig deeper – when next year, will it be faired etc, but he did not reveal any more specifics about the bike.

There are rumours that TVS’s 300 cc is codenamed U69 and may be a faired sports bike (link to report). However, we would not be surprised if they launch a naked as well or for that matter an adventure tourer considering the increasing interest in this segment! The manufacturer’s strong interest in Dakar and BMW’s experience with the GS range can be immensely helpful here.

By higher localisation levels we also expect exciting pricing. While the G310R, which has also been confirmed for our market is coming this year at an expected price tag of closer to Rs 2.5 Lakh, we expect the TVS’ version to cost lesser than Rs 2 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi prices).
