TVS ‘U69’ is Faired 310cc Motorcycle – BMW G310R Equivalent [Rumour]

U69 is rumoured to be the codename of TVS’ G310R equivalent & it is claimed to be a faired sports motorcycle

The association of TVS and BMW Motorrad is soon set to see the first product in the form of the already revealed G310R. The bike was developed by the Germans and will be made at TVS’ facility in Hosur. Apart from this (and the different variants of G310R), TVS will obviously prepare its own set of motorcycles around the similar platform, just like Bajaj-KTM.

And the first rumour based on this has started floating which claims that the G310R equivalent from TVS will be a faired version. Rushlane reports that the TVS’ version has been codenamed U69 and can be expected to be tuned slightly different. The 313 cc liquid cooled DOHC single cylinder engine on the G310R produces 34.4 PS of maximum power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm.

TVS will obviously use the platform and engine but will have their own bits to make it different (and cheaper). An entry sports motorcycle will also enable TVS to become a name in its international markets. Add to that TVS’ rich history of motorsports. So far we only have the RC390 around that arena but it is too committed. A slightly relaxed TVS version will make the cut but then Bajaj is also upto the Pulsar SS400 which they showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo.

If the ‘U69’ is sold only as a TVS badged product, expect it to be significantly cheaper than BMW’s offerings, however, it is too premature to talk about this. We suggest you to take this as a mere rumour for now until we get some concrete info on this – but be certain that there will be a 310 cc TVS motorcycle in the future. Let us hope Auto Expo 2016 next month reveals some new details on this…
