Suzuki Wants to Double its Motorcycle Market Share with New Gixxers

Suzuki Gixxer sales are way below the deserving levels. Company is targeting massive improvement with new-gen models…

Suzuki is the only major two-wheeler manufacturer which is doing reasonably good in this otherwise dull market. All the other makers have been in the red in this year’s cumulative sales.

However, the problem with Suzuki is that bulk of its sales come only from its Access, which is India’s largest selling 125cc scooter. Despite a five motorcycle-big lineup, bikes account for only 10 percent of its sales!

Suzuki recently launched the new-generation versions of its Gixxer 150s as well as debuted the Gixxer 250 twins – which include a naked variant as well as a faired version. We have ridden the new Gixxers and they are simply brilliant for what they offer. Despite being very able products, however, they have not been able to garner deserving sales.

Suzuki India’s Vice President Devashish Handa informs that the new Gixxer 150s and 250s have been designed keeping the Indian market in mind. He added that this has been done to ensure that the company starts doing ‘significantly’ higher numbers than today.
