SPIED: Suzuki Burgman Electric Spotted Testing: Clear Pic

Suzuki Burgman electric launch expected next year – body and part sharing would directly mean economies of scale…

Few weeks back the surprise spotting of a slightly different Burgman confirmed that Suzuki is up for something different. It is now road testing its Burgman Electric which will probably become the torch bearer for the company in the fast growing electric vehicle space.

In a latest development, we have got our hands on a very clear spy pic of the scooter. Red number plates raised the first suspicion and the surprise unfolded with the absence of the exhaust canister – confirming that this is no conventional internal combustion engined 2-wheeler.

Do note that this is a new white-blue shade which is not offered on the existing Burgman Street 125.

There is some test equipment attached for data gathering and validation purposes. The rear suspension, likely to be a single unit, is now mounted towards the right side (it is on the left side on the Burgman 125).

Nothing is known about the specs of the electric version; heck, we do not know if it will come in Burgman’s cloths even. But what is certain is that the Suzuki is at relatively advanced stages of its first electric 2-wheeler. It may be launched sometime next year and if it is under Burgman’s shell/moniker, expect it to be placed as a premium scooter – bang against the Chetak, iQube and 450X.

A Burgman body electric scooter may also mean a lot of part sharing which will definitely help in economies of scale. That it will take lesser time in development is another positive out of this approach.
