Rumor Claims New Avenger to Get Pulsar’s 200cc Engine by Oct; But Will It?

Avenger has always received a step-motherly treatment from Bajaj, majorly because of the niche market it plays in which accounts for a lesser percentage in their sales tally every month. Originally launched with the Pulsar 180’s 180 cc engine, it saw the application of the older Pulsar 200’s 200 cc motor only to settle down on the current 220 cc engine of the Pulsar 220.

It was in February 2015, Rajiv Bajaj revealed that they are working on a new Avenger that has caused flutter over the internet on the possibilities (here is the report) and that it will be launched soon. So, its almost confirmed that there is a new Avenger coming but what could be the changes…?

Building on this story, Zigwheels.com claims that they have Bajaj’s word that the new Avenger will carry 200NS’ new-gen 200cc 4-valve triple-spark engine with an obvious power bump. They also say that it will receive rear disc brakes along with minimal cosmetic changes and peg the launch around the festive season this year.

Bajaj-Avenger-220-DTSiWe are not really 100% confident if Bajaj will really plonk in their new-age 200cc engine on the existing frame of the Avy unless we see a test mule or read something more concrete. But yes, brace yourself up for a new Avenger – will it turn out to be an all-new product or just a mere facelift/update…that a few more weeks will tell us!
