So, its not just limited to Pulsars, Discovers and Platinas, Rajiv Bajaj has spilled beans on their neglected Avenger cruiser as well. Avenger, last updated with Pulsar 220’s 220cc engine way back in 2010, has not seen any update or major promotion from the company ever since. But, if this interview of Rajiv Bajaj at CNBC-TV18 is to be believed, the company is secretly working on a new Avenger and the better news is that it may be launched sometime between March (ie next month) till June this year.
This is surprising considering that there has been no reliable report or spyshot of an updated Avenger that has surfaced till now.
It is not known what changes will the new Avenger bring along but the bigger question we have is – will it continue with its old-school 220cc engine (which we love) or will Bajaj get in their 200cc triple spark motor from 200NS which is more modern and produces more power.
We do not expect any radical design changes to the already impressive looker but yes, there will definitely be minor tinkerings here and there along with new color options. What we will really urge Bajaj is to NOT play around with stickers as the clean design of the motorcycle looks the best!

Interestingly, we have been seeing many new Avengers on the roads of late. If we look at Bajaj’s 220cc bikes’ sales tally (which includes the Pulsar 220), it has grown from last year. As compared to last year’s 78,884 cumulative units between April to Jan (FY 2014), Bajaj has sold 89,506 units of both these motorcycles during the same period (Apr 2014 to Jan 2015) this financial year.
So, if you are a cruiser fan, your most affordable option in the country is getting a makeover. And yes, the new-gen Pulsar 400 Cruiser Sports is still some time away!
