Last year’s April was a complete goner since India was under complete lockdown due to the first wave of COVID 19. Flip to the current year’s April, we are at much higher caseload in wave two and restrictions and lockdowns have again been levied in parts of the country.

This again means that buying sentiments are down and almost every maker has registered muted sales. Royal Enfield, which specializes in mid capacity motorcycles, recorded total sales of 53,298 units – out of which 48,789 units were sold in the domestic market and 4509 units were exported.

The company exported 91 units in April 2020. In percentage terms, Royal Enfield shipped out almost 8.5 percent of its total sales in April 2021. In comparison, the company registered total sales of 66,058 units in the preceding month of March 2021 (60,173 domestic + 5885 exports).

After becoming the second largest seller in the portfolio in the month of March 2021, it is now being shipped to North America.
