Most two-wheeler makers had announced plant shutdowns to curtail the second wave of COVID-19. The pause ranged from a few days to few weeks. Royal Enfield also announced shutdown earlier this month from 13-16 May.
In a latest update, the company has shot in mails to its employees informing of another shutdown between 27 May to 29 May 2021. This three day production pause is applicable to all the three factories – Oragadam, Vallam Vadagal and Thiruvottiyur. Production will commence from Monday 31st May 2021.
Tamil Nadu is one of the worst affected states in India at the moment with over 30,000 daily positive cases. The loss in production for these days will be compensated later depending on the market demand.

Due to restrictions and lockdowns, demand has also been very muted and makers also do not appear to be in a mood to stuff dealerships with large inventories.
