Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) has inaugurated two new Traffic Parks at Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in Odisha, their first in the eastern part of the country.
For this they have associated with Regional Transport Authorities (RTOs) of Bhubaneswar-II and Cuttack. The two new traffic parks are located in Bhubaneswar (Driving Testing centre, Chandarshekharpur) and Cuttack (Driving Testing centre, Sector 6, CDA).
The company sees this effort as a significant step towards Honda’s commitment of making safe riding an everyday habit of all two wheel riders, irrespective of the type of their ride. Honda opened its first Traffic Park in Jaipur in 2012, followed soon by Delhi. So far, more than 53,000 people have been trained at these two parks.
Children between the ages of 5 to 8 will be encouraged to learn more about safety with dollops of fun, as a part of primary school activity. A CRF50 model has also been imported to impart into the minds of 9-12 year olds the importance of safety in riding with the help of practical experience.
Riders above the age of 18 can seek the help of theoretical sessions and experienced riding trainers where they will get to know of more than 100 possible mishaps and dangers while on the road. This will also entail a virtual experience programme which will increase their ability to predict and react to traffic vulnerabilities by creating awareness about impending risks, and how to deal with them in safe manner.
In a unique training initiative, the fairer sex will also be able to undergo a training program by which they can learn riding in the course of just one day.
Well, it is good so see how manufacturers have started taking the responsibility of making everyone better riders. We do hope more such initiatives are taken up by more manufacturers. So people, do remember to strap on your helmets, and obey the rules.
