QJ SRV 600 V2 Spied Testing in India, RE Shotgun 650 Rival Launching Soon?

QJ SRV 600 V2 will be sold by the Hyderabad-based Adishwar Auto Ride India (AARI) Group in the Indian market

QJ Motor, the China-based subsidiary of the Geely Auto Group, is testing the SRV 600 V2 on Indian roads. The test mule was recently sighted without any camouflage in a black paint shade in our country, hinting at a launch in the coming months. The Hyderabad-based Adishwar Auto Ride India (AARI) has a partnership with QJ Motor and it is the official distributor of Benelli, Keeway and Zontes motorcycles in the Indian market. Hence, the upcoming cruiser bike from the Chinese company will also be sold by the AARI Group in India.

Flaunting a typical bobber-inspired design, QJ SRV 600 V2 will directly rival Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 in the domestic market in India. Some of the striking styling elements include a round LED headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank and circular LED turn indicators. The cruiser has been on sale for around two years in multiple global markets and if launched in India, it will become the brand’s flagship motorcycle here.

The global-spec model of the QJ SRV 600 V2 tips the weighing scale at 201 kg with a relatively shoter saddle height of 705 mm. The suspension duties are carried out by USD front forks and dual shock absorbers at rear. The stopping power comes from 320 mm front and 260 mm rear disc brakes. It rides on 16-inch alloy wheels which are shod with 130/90 front and 180/65 rear tyres.

At the heart, QJ SRV 600 V2 houses a 550cc V-twin liquid-cooled petrol engine which generates maximum power of 49.6 bhp at 8,000 rpm and highest torque of 53 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The engine is linked to a 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch which transmit the power to the rear wheel through a belt-drive setup. The SRV 600 is also retailed with a V4 engine in several international markets.

QJ SRV 600 V2 comes with a fuel tank capacity of 16 litres while the average mileage is rated around 25 kmpl. The riders can travel up to 400 km in one go without the need of refueling the tank. The cruiser has a ground clearance of 120 mm, which is quite low considering the general quality of Indian roads. It also boasts of a retro-inspired round coloured LCD instrument cluster.

QJ Motor presently has a wide portfolio of motorcycles in India which are distributed by the AARI Group. Some of the popular models include SRC 250, SRC 300, SRC 500 and SRK 400. The only visible challenge for QJ Motor in the Indian market is the limited sales and service network of AARI Group as compared to the legacy players such as Royal Enfield, Honda and Triumph.
