Ola Appscooter launch ready; coming very soon and at prices lesser than direct rivals. It has a higher range than petrol scooters!
Bengaluru based ridesharing company Ola Cabs’ electric vehicles manufacturing unit – Ola Electric, is all set to launch its first scooter in the country. Dubbed as the ‘Appscooter’, the India-spec electric scooter will be launched as soon as February 2021.
Fresh speculation suggests that the company is considering undercutting the prices of the established players and it may cost around Rs 90,000 to Rs 95,000. This means that it will be priced under the established competition in the form of Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, etc.

Since the country currently lacks the public infrastructure of battery swapping, the app scooter will come with support for charging at home along with public charging infrastructure. However, it gets three interchangeable battery modules, each of which will have a capacity of 600W per module. It will have an 80 km range per module – inferring a whopping 240 km gross range with all the three modules.

The company also plans to shift the production of the scooter from Netherlands to India. It aims to set up a plant in the country with a capacity of one million units per annum. With this, the facility would be the largest such in the world for manufacturing EVs.
