Electric Vehicles (EVs) are all the rage now. Both in our country and on a global level. With recent commencement of deliveries of Ola S1 & S1 Pro, launch of Tork’s first electric bikes Kratos & Kratos R to upcoming Ultraviolette F77 and TVS Motors’ foray into commercial electric scooter, all the major headlines are being made by electrically powered scooters and motorcycles.
Adding to these headlines are a new set of images, shared by an online portal, which shows a mysterious camouflaged electric scooter. There are claims that it is the Okinawa Oki90 (internal codename).
Okinawa Autotech is a Gurgaon based electric two-wheeler manufacturer and is the second largest electric two-wheeler seller in our country. Okinawa last showcased their high-speed and high-range electric scooters during the 2020 version of Auto Expo.
The electric scooter caught testing in the images looks real big with a large wheelbase and body size. The product, whoever is testing, looks closer to production.
Certain details jump out like the single-unit seat which is raised for the pillion, wide silver-coloured grab-rails that can also function as luggage rack and big tail-lamp which is very similar to Aprilia’s SXR 160.
Coming to the front of the scooter, it sports an LED headlight unit which is integrated into the handlebar. The LED DRLs and turn-indicators are fixed vertically on both the sides of the front apron.
It gets telescopic forks at the front along with dual-shocks at the rear. This scooter is riding on a big set of alloy wheels which adds to its overall premium appearance. The rear-view mirrors are chrome finished as well.
Braking is being handled by a disc setup both at the front and an ABS unit could also be on offer. We can also see full-digital instrumentation with Bluetooth connectivity and features like navigation, geofencing, ride metrics, diagnostics etc.

If this is the OKI90 from Okinawa it may get a removable Li-ion battery which can achieve a range of 150-180 km on a single charge.
It is further speculated that OKI90 will get the ability to fast-charge and can achieve 80% SOC within 1 hour of charge. However, we will wait for some concrete evidence before jumping the gun. Do let us know if you have any specific info about this massive looking scooter..
