Okinawa, which is one the fastest growing electric two-wheeler manufacturer in India, has announced the launch of its first electric motorcycle OKI 100. Now, there is something very special about this motorcycle – not its price, not its top speed, range etc… The company has cleared that OKI 100 will be 100 percent localized ie it will be completely made in India adhering to PM Modi’s ‘Make in India’ vision.
Okinawa claims that apart from its battery, everything will be sourced from local vendors which will also widen the supplier base in the country and will push local production within India. Currently, Okinawa’s scooters are localized upto 88 percent but with OKI 100, the company will take the localization components upto 100 percent.
OKI 100 was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo and it will have a top speed of 100 kph along with lithium ion battery base.
