Mahindra’s Upcoming 110cc Scooter at Auto Expo; BikeAdvice Busted it, Autocar Confirms it

Here is another vehicle that you will get to see in the Auto Expo 2014. As reported earlier, Mahindra Two Wheelers (MTWL) is developing an all-new 110cc scooter, codenamed G101. MTWL is planning to unveil this automatic scooter this coming year and it will take on the mighty Honda Activa and Hero’s Maestro.

BikeAdvice was the publication that first broke the news of this new scooter from Mahindra back in July this year (here is the report) and we have shared two different spottings of the same. Autocarindia.com now confirms this new development and furthermore reports that Mahindra is all set to introduce not just one but two new products very soon.

Besides Centuro and Pantero commuter motorcycles, Mahindra presently has in its scooter portfolio Duro DZ, Rodeo RZ, Flyte (124.6cc, single-cylinder engine) and the 71.5 cc Kine.

The new 110 cc scooter is expected to be as feature packed as the Centuro and that should make it a pretty good value for money proposition. Whether this new scooter from Mahindra will unsettle the likes of Activa is a matter of conjecture, but given Mahindra’s success with its Centuro one should not be too surprised to see the new scooter making the competition sweat under their collars.

Given Mahindra’s less than stellar sales and after sales service record, one would rather hope that Mahindra fixes these basics before going on a new model spree. Needless to say, a major chunk of goodwill and reputation is based on the overall quality of the product life cycle.

MTWL is emerging as a serious contender in the Indian two-wheeler scene and with this upcoming scooter it could indeed carve a sizeable piece from the commuter scooter pie.
