One of the early pioneers of the Indian two-wheeler segment LML has now sprung back into action. The homegrown brand has officially allowed its foray into the high-moving electric two-wheeler and will be known as LML electric.

Apparently, the Indian automobile brand is getting significant investment and investors for its electric venture. In the previous generations, LML was a household name and had seen tremendous success in the two-wheeler automobile market.

Sources on the street say that LML has got proposals from various tech firms to enter the EV domain in India.

Commenting on the upcoming venture, Dr. Yogesh Bhatia, MD & CEO, LML Electric says that they are very excited for this comeback. Product development strategies are currently in progress. The company has announced that it will launch a new, disruptive product soon.

LML Electric is aiming to introduce a highly innovative product in the market equipped with the ‘best of technology’. Mr Bhatia hinted that its products will target the upper-middle and urban segments of society.

LML’s history goes back to the early 1970s when it exclusively started catering to the two-wheeler segment in India. The brand is based out of Kanpur, UP. Back in 1983, LML joined hands with Piaggio, the Italian automaker to produce 100cc scooters.

Over the years it became a highly successful automobile brand in Indian and also came up with motorcycles in collaboration with South Korean Daelim.

Many brands have already ventured in this EV space and the and it will be interesting to see whether LML electric will be able to carve a niche in the segment and put up a good competition as it did in the automobile industry during its heydays.
