Hero has officially launched the Splendor iSmart BS6 in India which has become the country’s first Bharat Stage VI compliant motorcycle from a major manufacturer. The title of India’s first BS6 two-wheeler went to arch rival Honda as it recently started delivering its Activa 125 FI.
Splendor iSmart now comes with a new 113.2 cc fuel injected engine instead of the 109.15 cc of the BS4 iSmart. It is surprising that Hero had to develop a new engine and this already recent 109.15 cc engine was not upgradable (or is it the same engine with a different bore/stroke?).
The new motor now produces slightly lesser power of 9 bhp instead of 9.39 hp of the older model but it peaks at the same 7500 rpm. Torque output has however increased to 9.89 Nm at 5500 rpm from 9 Nm of the older iSmart (at the same rpm). The 2020 Splendor is also equipped with a new diamond frame.
Other changes in the motorcycle include – 15 mm increased suspension travel, higher 180 mm ground clearance and a 36 mm longer wheelbase. It continues to offer i3s technology.

The higher model of the current Splendor iSmart is priced at Rs 57,430 ex-showroom Delhi which means the price hike in this transition is Rs 7470 which equates to a significant 13 percent!

Splendor iSmart BS6 will be available in Techno Blue & Black, Sports Red & Black and Force Silver & Heavy Grey colour combinations. Hero says the new Splendor will be available in Delhi and NCR in the coming few days. As the company will increase production, it will be dispatched to other parts of the country in a phase-wise manner.
