Launched: 2017 Yamaha Alpha BS4 Gets Upto Rs 2030 Price Increment

The market leader Honda has launched its BS4 scooters and in the process they have clubbed a few additional features (like mobile charging points etc) apart from the new dual tone colours. Yet the price increment has been minimum. On the other hand Yamaha, which has just added new colours, has increased prices of its BS4 scooters by upto Rs 2030!

Apart from Fascino, the other scooter to get updated for 2017 is Alpha. It continues to be powered by the same 113 cc air cooled engine capable of producing 7.2 PS of peak power at 7500 rpm and 8.1 Nm of max torque at 5000 rpm, like before. As with Fascino, Yamaha promises a standard fuel efficiency figure of 66 kmpl owing to its Bluecore processes.

2017 Alpha Changes

Going by the specs mentioned on the website, the 2017 Alpha gets the following changes..

  • The engine has become BS4 compliant and the scooter gains AHO (always on headlamps).
  • 130 mm ground clearance for the Drum variant (it was 128 mm earlier).
  • Engine oil capacity has decreased from 0.85 liter to 0.74 liter.
  • Yamaha has simplified the colour chart for the scooter; From the 10 colours available for the older variant, the 2017 Alpha now comes in five – all dual tone They have deleted all single tone colours from the list.

The price increment on the drum brake variant has been Rs 1030 whereas the disc brake variant has become significantly costlier by Rs 2030.
