Yes, we all dream of tuning our dream mean machine to churn out even more power. Well many of you might have been inhibited from doing so because of the fear of voiding your warranty. For the first time in India a manufacturer has decided to offer custom engine maps for its highly popular and already powerful bikes according to Autocar India.
Well no prizes for guessing them – KTM India! Yes now you can tune your Duke 200 and Duke 390 for even more power (or rideability). These KTM Austria approved custom maps will be entirely street legal. Being a company approved modification, it would not even void the warranty of the motorcycle.
KTM will be releasing two sets of mappings, one performance oriented and another more street focused, which will enhance city riding traits of the Dukes!
We know this is what you, performance aficionados have been waiting for all these years. This will be a very welcome move by KTM and we expect a lot of Duke riders will opt for these. Only one of the maps can be used at one time and any Duke rider can get their engine re-mapped at a KTM service centre. This would mean that whenever you want to switch to the other, it would mean a trip to the service centre.
This customised software upgrade will change the way the ECU has a hold on the bike’s power output. Increasing it in the performance map to give more speed and mellow down the rage in the tamer city version.
The word on the street is that KTM is also planning a special roadside assistance programme, called ‘Orange Assist’, which will entail a 24 hour road side assistance service and in case of a breakdown within a 100km radius of a KTM workshop. These are just a couple of more reasons to buy the Dukes and the upcoming RCs!
