SWM Superdual launch will give the market a single cylinder mid-capacity adventure tourer. In a latest its likely launch date has been revealed…
Kinetic has come back into motorcycles. Through their Motoroyale network they are selling MV Agusta motorcycles in India, apart from the recently announced JV with Norton Motorcycles. The other motorcycle brand that they will offer is SWM, for which they have also been making some parts.
Who is SWM?
SWM is an Italian motorcycle brand which was founded in 1971 and was in existence till the 1980s. At the 2014 EICMA motor show they announced their comeback and this time it is Ampelio Macchi (who has earlier worked with Aprilia, Husqvarna etc) who is driving the brand. They showcased six street and off road bikes with engine capacities ranging from 300 to 650 cc.
In an official press release shared by MotoRoyale late last year, it has been revealed that SWM will debut with Superdual 650 in India and is also expected to introduce the Superdual X sometime later. It will not launch the anticipated Gran Milano in India for now.
SWM Superdual Details
Superduals are on-road off-road motorcycles which are powered by a 57 PS/53.5 Nm 600 cc 4-valve, 4-stroke, liquid cooled single cylinder DOHC engine. This motor is sourced from Husqvarna TE 630. Superdual gets features like Brembo brakes, standard ABS, adjustable front and rear suspension, 180 mm ground clearance etc but at 898 mm of saddle height they will be high for an average Indian rider.
In April this year, MotoRoyale kept on display the Superdual at the Great Trail Adventure event in Pune and Deelip Menezes shared some details along with the motorcycle’s pics. He revealed…
- Superdual comes with accessories such as lockable panniers, luggage racks, Crash bars, auxilliary lights – all featured on the display motorcycle, as standard.
- The Superdual X will have a longer wheelbase and a bigger front tyre.
- Seat height may be a problem for smaller riders. A 20 mm lower seat option will also be offered.
- Exhaust note from the single cylinder engine is ‘nice and deep’.
- Brembo brakes will be aided by ABS as standard.
SWM Superdual Launch
According to the official word, MotoRoyale was to launch SWM Superdual 650 by the end of last year (2017). However, proceedings have been delayed. After many intermediate reports, a latest report at Indianautosblog claims that Superdual will eventually be introduced on 11 October in India.
