Despite price disadvantage, Honda’s BS6 products reportedly have a good demand in the market and the company has reached an important milestone…
First let us understand – why every maker would want to be the last in this race to convert its portfolio to Bharat Stage VI. BS6 is driving prices of motorcycles and scooters up by a significant margin. This is a direct disadvantage against all the rivals as a BS6 motorcycle or a scooter will cost much higher than a corresponding rival product.
But despite that, Honda has become the brave manufacturer to be the first mover into the new tech era and it is aggressively pursuing its new products. Honda has already launched as many as six BS6 compliant 2-wheelers – Activa 125, Activa 6G, Dio, Shine, SP125 and Unicorn.
Amidst all this, Honda has revealed that it has achieved a major milestone in its journey towards this BS6 transition – it has reached 5.5 lakh unit sales of its BS6 two-wheelers. This comes shortly after Honda introduced its Unicorn BS6 which comes with a bigger engine. Honda started this transition almost 6 months ahead of the 1st April 2020 deadline.
Honda informs that it has been receiving high demand from all the regions of the country and it is completing the pan India availability of all of these products.
The new Activa 125 comes with 26 patents and new features like side stand engine cut off, Start stop system, ACS starter motor, fuel injection, etc. It also returns a claimed 13 percent higher fuel efficiency and the price range starts from Rs 67,490 ex-showroom.
7 BIG Features Activa Has Received for the First Time
The SP125 gets 19 new patents and is equipped with useful features like full digital instrumentation (which shows distance to empty, average fuel efficiency and realtime fuel efficiency), Engine Start Stop, gear position indicator etc. It starts at Rs 72,900 ex-showroom. With Shine and more specifically, Activa 6G joining the portfolio, these numbers have grown a lot faster. From around 3 Lakh units in February end, the maker has dispatched as many as 2.5 Lakh additional units in around 20 days only!
Is This Honda’s Upcoming Xpulse 200 Rival…?
In this process, Honda has shared that a few products may be dropped from the lineup – the ones which are not doing well in the market.
