Honda Is Looking For Next Indian Racing Star – 2022 Idemitsu Honda India Talent Hunt

Honda India talent Cup kickstarted in Bengaluru city to select 9 riders… these will compete to ride the race-spec CBR150R bikes…

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India have announced the commencement of Round-1 of the 2022 Idemitsu Honda India Talent Hunt with an aim to ‘identify & accelerate the racing career of young riders’. 

Round-1 of the 2022 Idemitsu Honda India Talent Hunt was conducted at Aruani Gridin in the city of Bengaluru, Karnataka. The event saw the participation of amateur riders from 5 cities – Chennai & Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Malappuram (Kerala) and Lucknow(Uttar Pradesh). This round saw participating riders aged as young as 9-year olds to 17-year olds, trying to fulfil their dream of becoming a racer. 

Speaking on the event, Mr. Prabhu Nagaraj (Senior Vice President – Brand & Communication, HMSI) said –

“We have kicked off the 2022 hunt for next-gen racing sensation from Bengaluru and shortlisted candidates will be participating in the next level. The best of these riders will get an opportunity to ride and compete in the 2022 season of IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Cup CBR150R”.

He further added –

“In the long term, Honda’s focus is to put young Indian talent on multiple National & International platforms like Asia Talent Cup, Asia Road Racing Championship, Endurance championships. I am confident that these budding riders will change the scenario of motorsports in India and make the nation proud both at the national as well as international level.”

In Phase-1, the participating 09 candidates were put through 3-levels of rigorous tests. First was a gruelling physical fitness session followed by evaluating the riding skills & maneuverability on the racetrack. Lastly, was a one-on-one interview with candidates and their parents/guardians to understand their motorsport passion & family support on the road to becoming the next iconic racer of India.

After shortlisting in phase-1, the top selected candidates will be trained and then will be promoted to the track in phase-2. Then from this pool of talent, Honda India will pick out the best talent for future development. 

These final selected riders will get an opportunity to race in the ongoing 2022 Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup – CBR 150R category.
