You Will See Hornet 180 Adventure Sooner or Later, Says Honda CEO

Honda’s CEO has confirmed that Hornet Adventure launch is under consideration as the company plans to expand utility of this 180 platform…

It was glaringly obvious that Honda will not simply make a single motorcycle on the new Hornet 180 platform that it introduced very recently in India with the streetfighter design. India’s Hornet 180 is based on the ‘190’ motorcycles that Honda sells in China.

Atsushi Ogata, the newly appointed CEO and MD of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, in a conversation with a prominent news portal revealed that the company has incurred big investment in the development of the Hornet 180 and discussions are on to utilize it in different categories. In the same tone he confirmed that one of the options is ADVENTURE!

Here it is in his own words..

Adventure means real or full bike but basically like small cc, 200 cc or 160 cc. Also, we have such kind of crossover. It means on-off model. We have those in China, in ASEAN markets, the CRF and so on. So, why not! Because we have Hornet 2.0, so we have new platform, new engine, the same as the H’Ness. Also, the Hornet 2.0, we have big investment for this model. So now, under discussion to expand the variety and to utilize this kind of new platform and offer more different categories and one of the options is adventure. So, you will be able to see sooner or later.

Like Hornet, it also comes with golden colored upside down front forks and looks real interesting with that semi fairing. However, the India-spec Hornet 180 Adventure may look slightly (or comprehensively) different from the Chinese version, like it is the case with the CBF190R and Hornet 180. We should be able to hear more about the Xpulse rival in the days to come…
