Hold On! Is Honda Ready With Its 2021 CB300R BS6…?

Honda CB300R BS6 launch on the cards? Why has the company dispatched EIGHT units of its entry neo sports roadster to its dealerships…?

Honda did not have a very good month of April. It saw massive degrowth in both scooter and motorcycle dispatches to dealerships. But our eyes have caught a very interesting development.

In the monthly SIAM sales data that we receive, it is revealed that Honda shipped a total of 2977 units of its 250-350cc motorcycles in the month of April 2021. 2969 units are listed under the CB350 range but 8 units correspond to, wait a minute….the CB300R!

In simple words, Honda appears to have shipped a handful of CB300Rs to its dealerships (in India) if we go by this data. But the problem is there is no Euro 5 compliant (equivalent to our Indian BS6 norms) CB300R that has been unveiled yet. And that was the reason why the CB300R was discontinued from India.

We tried to connect the dots and remembered that back in March 2020, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Director at Honda 2Wheelers India, confirmed that the company will start mass production of its ‘existing’ premium bikes including one product below 500cc. CB300R was the only product that filled this criteria back then. You can read that report here.

Keeping this in mind and the sudden dispatch numbers shown against the CB300R, there is a possibility that Honda may already be locally manufacturing the entry mid-sizer with the updated BS6 emission norms in India.

EXCLUSIVE: Honda Patents CLICK-Like Scooter in India

We should wait since the revelation, if any, should be very soon. If it turns out to be the CB300R (at attractive prices), Honda may actually snatch a lot of sales from rivals in this segment with its growing premium bike range…
