I remember attending Hero MotoCorp’s pre-Auto Expo event in January-end this year where the manufacturer was supposed to unveil a new scooter and a new motorcycle. To our pleasant surprise Mr. Munjal unveiled five new two-wheelers at the conference including the 250cc 31PS HX250R sportsbike. A few days later, the 620cc naked, Hastur, was showcased too at the Auto Expo along with several concepts and production-ready models.
We recently told you that the company has confirmed that it would be launching a few of those models like the Xtreme Sports, Splendor Pro Classic, and the Passion Pro TR shortly. However, we might be in for a treat again (like in January) and this time it may be for real and not just for us folks from the media, but for nationwide customers – especially those fans who have been waiting for something bigger and better-looking than the new Karizmas.
In its latest TV commercial, the company has teased both the HX250R and Hastur motorcycles and also the maxi scooter ZIR that looks massive for its size and 150cc engine.
Out of these three models, it is the full-faired 250cc sportsbike that we believe will come the earliest, followed by the scooter Zir and the 620cc naked beast Hastur. The liquid-cooled 250cc HX is good for 31 bhp and will come with optional ABS and I suspect Hero to price it just a smidgen below the CBR250R to spice things a bit.
The build quality, paint lustre, and fit & finish of the displayed model were on a par; I just hope that it runs as good as it looks. And don’t change the nomenclature please! Dash, Hyphen, Zir, Mihir, or Krantivir would not work – HX250R is just fine!
