New 2023 KARIZMA – Five Firsts it Brings for Hero MotoCorp

Here are a few Hero Karizma features (and attributes) that are a first for a Hero motorcycle ever.

The original Karizma, that was first launched in 2003, was a trendsetter and a dream motorcycle for many of those times. With time, Hero lent it some updates but it was the 2014 model that did not go well with the enthusiasts and the motorcycle had to be withdrawn from the market, eventually.

Come 2023, and Hero has brought back the Karizma moniker with a new model – Karizma XMR (launch article). Here is a quick list of features that are a first ever for a Hero MotoCorp motorcycle..

Steel Trellis Frame – The Karizma XMR becomes the first motorcycle in Hero’s line-up to come with a split steel trellis frame that is relatively costlier to make and is generally used in motorcycles that handle well. The 390 Duke is a fine example of the same. The new Karizma could be company’s best handling motorcycle.

Engine – The 210cc engine comes with liquid cooling and dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) which makes it the first Hero to use such a configuration on any of its motor.

Gearbox – The new Karizma is the only 6-speed transmission motorcycle in Hero’s portfolio right now.

Dual Channel ABS – Along with a lot of other features, the 2023 Karizma becomes the first motorcycle in Hero MotoCorp’s portfolio to come equipped with a dual channel ABS. The Xpulse gets three ABS modes but it still works on a Single channel ABS system. This, would naturally make Karizma a safer option in the line-up.

Biggest Hero – Though it is down on displacement from the original Karizma’s 223cc air cooled engine, the 2023 Karizma XMR currently is the largest motorcycle Hero is producing. Though it may soon give away this crown to a near 400cc that is expected this year.

Costliest Hero – With this the Karizma also becomes the flagship motorcycle in the line-up and hence the costliest as well – costliest Hero has ever sold!

The Karizma has to do well this time to lift Hero’s fortunes and confidence. A dismal performance this time could mean an end to the legendary nameplate. The Karizma goes against the Gixxer SF, Pulsar RS200 and RC200 at the moment.
