Shocking: Is Harley Davidson Shutting Down in India?

Harley shut down? This is a big speculation that has emerged. It claims that Indian plant may be closed as early as next month!

This comes as a shocker! A latest report at Economic Times has spilled some beans on Harley’s future plans for our market.

It is well known that Harley Davidson is reeling under major sales fall across the world. As a result, the new company head has come up with a strategy called as ‘The Rewire’. Under this, it has identified key markets where it would want to concentrate its energies and resources on. And that means that the non-important markets as well as businesses may be pruned or shut down.

In India, in the April to June quarter, Harley Davidson could only sell 106 motorcycles which is a massive drop of 87 percent from the corresponding period last year.

In a latest update, Harley has transferred its Indian Managing Director, Sajeev Rajasekharan, to Singapore. The company is culling down lot of branches and in fact, the report claims that the American behemoth may even close down its Indian plant as soon as next month! The plan, reportedly, is to keep the operations minimal with lesser and probably more profitable models.

It further claims that a lot of its executives were laid off in the last two months to reduce the workforce.
