Gen 3 Ather 450X & 450 Plus – What Are The Differences??

Ather 450X & 450 Plus differences come down to only 5 criteria, with pricing & battery being the major one…

Ever since Ather Energy debuted their electric scooters, they have offered them in two trims – 450 Plus and top-spec 450X

The 450 Plus is the lower spec electric scooter from Ather and gets a few features less than the flagship 450X. The 450 Plus sits directly in competition with the Ola S1, while the 450X takes the fight straight to the Ola S1 Pro.

During the recent launch of Gen 3 450X and 450 Plus electric scooters, Ather only spoke about updates and new features on the flagship model, only mentioning the 450 Plus at the end of the presentation, while talking about the pricing.

Let’s take a quick look at how different the 450 Plus is from the flagship 450X scooter –

  1. Pricing

Starting with the most obvious comparison, the major difference between the sibling electric scooters is the pricing.

Considering the pricing in Ahmedabad city, the Ather 450X starts at Rs. 1,37,612/- (ex-showroom), while 450 Plus is cheaper by Rs. 21,511/- and starts at Rs. 1,16,101/- (ex-showroom).

  1. Battery & Performance

Another major update between the sibling scooters is the battery capacity.

Made out of the same material, the 450X boasts a usable capacity of 3.24 kWh, while the 450 Plus is down by 0.6 kWh, coming in at 2.6 kWh of usable capacity.

This difference translates to the performance as well – The peak power is down by 0.7 kW, the torque is down by 4 Nm and the Acceleration time (0-40 km/h) is longer by 0.6 seconds,

This affects the range as well – Where 450X boasts a real-world range of 105 km, the 450 Plus has a 20km shorter range, only giving an 85 km real-world range in Eco mode.

  1. Power Modes

Coming to the power modes, the 450 Plus gets 1 power mode less than the flagship 450X electric scooter.

450X Power modes – Warp, Sport, Ride, Eco & Smart Eco.

450 Plus power modes – Sport, Ride, Eco & Smart Eco.

  1. Charging Speed

In this criteria, there is only a minute difference in the charging speed between the two electric scooters.

While the Home charging speeds of 450X and 450 Plus are identical, the fast charging speeds differ in only 1 aspect.

The Ather 450X can charge at the rate of 1.5 km/min using the Ather Grid, the 450 Plus only charges at a 1 km/min rate at the same Ather Grid charging network.

All other charging parameters are the same.

  1. Features

Features-wise, the 450 Plus does not get Bluetooth connectivity and the features that utilise the Bluetooth system.

This means no call & text notifications and no music control.

Other than these, GPS, auto-indicator off, Guide-me-home light and adaptive instrumentation, all are offered on both scooters.

Other than the 4 criteria shared above, every other parameter – Colours, Top-speed, charging, battery voltage, water& dust resistance, transmission & final drive, chassis & wheels, braking system, dimensions, storage etc. are the same on both scooters.
