Ducati Names Its 2012 Sportbike As ‘1198 Panigale’

Italian sportbike maker Ducati has officiaaly announced the name of the 2012 sportbike as ‘Ducati 1198 Panigale’. The Ducati International website has also announced the news that the 1198 Panigale is almost all set for launch. It has also come up with a teaser video to show how this new bike is gonna look like. After taking a look at the video, one can easily come to a conclusion that this new 1199 Panigale will surely inherit the DNA of Ducati’s design in almost every single aspect.

The company in a press statement has mentioned, “In an Italian territory known as “Motor Valley” and where high performance and racing runs through the veins of its passionate people, Ducati now underline their pride in being world ambassadors for the “Made in Italy” title by immortalizing their home town in the name of the new Superbike.

This new generation Superbike from the stable of Ducati will be unveiled at the EICMA International Motorcycle Show in Milan 10-13 November this year. Oh, hardly 40 days more for the world to see this stunning beauty in real.

Here is what Ducati claims about this  motorcycle, ‘The new model not only will deliver record performance, breathtaking design and technical innovation, it also breaks with our Superbike tradition by adding a name to its 1199cc engine capacity, making a significant and warm association to its historic roots in the Borgo Panigale (pronounced “Pan-ee-gah-lee”) area of Bologna. In an Italian territory known as “Motor Valley” and where high performance and racing runs through the veins of its passionate people, we decided to underline our pride in being world ambassadors for the “Made in Italy” title by immortalizing our home town in the name of the best sportsbike ever built.’

This bike is designed to be a sport super bike that can essentially bring its full potential on a race-track and will be seen exhibiting its racing DNA in the 2012 FIM Superstock Championship and then, in accordance with the factory’s development program, it will make its debut in World Superbike in 2013.

“The two-stage introduction enables Ducati additional development for the Superbike version of the 1199 Panigale, appropriate to the more open regulations of the World Superbike category, and in addition help control costs for World Superbike teams who can continue to compete with a 2012 version of the 1198 with technical support from Ducati Engineers.”
