BREAKING: BMW’s NEXT 310 Teased: Launch On July 15

BMW S310RR launch (probable name) very soon. This came out of nowhere and it opens up a host of other options for both BMW and TVS.

So, today out of nowhere, BMW Motorrad India took to their Instagram/Facebook and teased the arrival of their own version of a 300 cc faired motorcycle which will carry their legendary ‘RR’ moniker.

BMW S310RR launch

The short teaser video showcased the symbolic ‘Devil Horn’ rear LED light which hints that the BMW branded supersport will be based on the TVS Apache RR 310 motorcycle. The teaser video ended with the caption saying ‘Adrenalin Coming’ indicating that their first small displacement RR supersport bike is ready to unleash.

Looking closely at the image teased, we can see the tail section design and the rear LED turn-indicators all are totally similar to the present Apache RR 310 from partner TVS. This means the BMW’s version of the faired bike could just be a rebadged job of the existing Apache RR 310 and could don the German White, Red & Blue factory colours.

And following the above pattern of ‘BMWising’ the current Apache RR 310 model, we could guess the name of the bike as well. We think that BMW may name the bike ‘S310 RR’, staying true to their supersport naming scheme. This is also indicated by the ‘RR’ badge in red showcased on the triangular tail section of the bike showcased in the teaser.

Now this makes it easy to guess what features the new BMW S310 RR could sport. The biggest highlighting feature will be the 312 cc engine, which is a result of collaboration between the TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad. It is capable enough to take on the likes of KTM’s RC 390 supersport bike, which boasts credentials of being the most powerful single-cylinder bike in our country.

The other highlighting set of features will be the electronic suit the bike comes standard with. It may come with a 5” vertically oriented TFT display which TVS calls a ‘Race Computer’. It will definitely be tuned to display BMW font & graphics which uses a combination of Red & Blue colours.

The new S310 RR may also carry forward 4 riding modes, dual-channel ABS, Bluetooth connectivity, ride-by-wire throttle, slipper clutch and much more in terms of features.

Since it will carry the posh BMW badge, be ready to pay a good premium for the new S310 RR. We expect the new BMW supersport to be priced around Rs. 3.10 Lakh – Rs. 3.20 Lakh (ex-showroom).

Finally, it makes us curious – looking at how BMW will be utilising the current TVS supersport to create their own RR badged small-displacement superbike, could TVS do such a thing themselves??

Can TVS take the G310 GS and ‘TVSify’ it?? Can we see an ADV bike based on the current G310 GS, but with better instrumentation and electronics and be launched under the TVS brand. Imagine what a capable & enticing ADV it would be….
