BMW has built on its long cruiser platform with the launch of another variant on the R18 platform. After the R18 and R18 First Edition that were introduced here in September last year, the German has announced the R18 Classic – which becomes the third model in this lineup.
The R18 Classic is a more touring-spec model that carries forward the same 1802 cc Boxer engine which produces 91 hp at 4750 rpm and peak torque of 158 Nm that is available right from 3000 rpm. As much as 150 Nm is sent from 2000 to 4000 rpm.
In terms of differences, the Classic sports a larger windshield for enhanced wind protection along with a rear passenger seat (it is not present on the other two models). It also gets two additional LED headlamps and saddle bags. The big change is the move from 19 inch front tyre to a 16 incher that is wider.

The R18 First Edition is priced at Rs 22.55 Lakh after a recent price hike, which means that the Classic commands a premium of Rs 1.45 Lakh over it.

Among prominent features, the R18 Classic comes with ride modes (Rain, Roll and Rock), optional reverse gear, switchable traction control, Dynamic Engine Brake Control, Hill Start Control, Electronic cruise control and Keyless Ride system.

The German workhorse is offered with a standard warranty of three years and unlimited kilometers and there is also an option to further extend it for two years. Roadside Assistance is also available as a package.
