In Mahavir Group, Benelli seems to have find a very aggressive partner for its Indian operations. The very young Vikas Jhabakh, MD of the company, says that they will focus on converting their lineup to Bharat Stage 6 compliance this year. We have discussed their product plans here.
Apart from products, Benelli targeted to reach 100 dealerships within this fiscal. However, with two months out of the window, and with underlying uncertainty in the times to come, Benelli is still very serious about its schedule.
It currently has 28 active dealers in various cities. It has 14 other outlets which are under different stages of completion. They got halted because of the lockdown situation and will come up as soon as the lockdown is lifted.
Vikas says that the company started with 7-8 dealers around a year and a half back. Within 18 odd months, Benelli has launched 20 new dealerships so far. They have been opening 1-2 outlets every other month.
Vikas was very candid enough to accept that the company could fall a little short of the 100 dealership mark which the company had targeted for this fiscal. However, he reiterated that he is fairly confident that the company will still end the financial year with about 70-80 dealerships across India. This means that they are still very aggressively looking at opening around 50 outlets within the next 9-10 months!
With this high coverage across the nation and various motorcycles catering to wide variety of tastes, including some affordable ones under or around Rs 2-3 lakh, Benelli is set to take the next leap in premium motorcycle sales in the country.
