So, if you were waiting only for the bigger and faired Pulsars, here is Bajaj coming up with a quick one. For all you cruiser-o-holics, Avenger 220 is currently the cheapest motorcycle available in this segment.
Bajaj has officially confirmed that the company will showcase a cruiser concept at the upcoming Auto Expo which is scheduled during the early part of February in Noida.
In what was believed and visible, Bajaj was neglecting the cruiser segment and Avenger appeared to be a step child in the lineup. That partly has to be blamed for its lesser (than Pulsars) appeal and hence sales. Now, for some good reasons, Bajaj has stood up and taken notice and during a press meet recently, declared that a new cruiser is being prepared for the markets. Interestingly, Rajiv Bajaj also mentioned that it will be different from Avenger’s platform, which in turn is based on the erstwhile Kawasaki Eliminator’s platform.
*A Special edition Duke 390 was also presented to Gautam Gambhir in the event
By this statement, it appears that this new unnamed cruiser may be an all-new product which may also get bigger engines and possibly a higher hierarchy placement to rival other cruisers which are available in the country from Royal Enfield primarily.
A prototype will be put on display at the Auto Expo which will give us a hint of what to expect from the Pune based manufacturer. However, the sad bit here is that it will take some time for Bajaj to finally launch it in the market, as they said 2 years!
If this is not the time period you want to wait for, Hyosung is also planning to enter our market with its quarter liter GV250 Aquila in a few months (More Details).
Nonetheless, Bajaj, along with KTM and Kawasaki is squaring up against the competition and its nice to see them working on something other than the rage Pulsars!
Bring it on Bajaj, we are waiting!
