Bajaj Probiking Stops Selling Kawasaki Motorcycles [Speculation]

Building on the ongoing Bajaj-Kawasaki break-up, we have an update which you would NOT want to read. According to Bikewale, Bajaj Probiking showrooms, which so far sold KTM and Kawasaki branded motorcycles, have stopped selling the latter.

As per the speculative reports, they have a pact to sell Kawasaki motorcycles till 31st March 2017 but Bajaj probiking dealers do not want a stock pileup and hence, they are not ordering new Kawasaki motorcycles any more. Transition to BS4 emission norms may also have a play here.

These retail outlets used to sell Kawasaki’s CKD motorcycles – Ninja 300, Z250, Ninja 650, ER6N and Versys 650. But after the break-up they will only sell KTM branded motorcycles at respective stores. The Ninjas and other siblings will be sold through Kawasaki’s exclusive retail chain which is almost non-existent when compared to Bajaj’s Probiking network. No matter how quickly Kawasaki may try to ramp up their dealerships across India, it will take them years to come to current Probiking spread. In simple terms, if you are a Tier 2 or worst, Tier 3 (city) Kawasaki motorcycle owner you are in deep trouble.

One of our reader and a Ninja 300 owner has already shared his suffering with us and you can read it here.

Blessing in Disguise

But what may come as a silver lining is this – few Probiking dealers who may have a relatively bigger pileup of Kawasaki motorcycles may try to clear off the stock before April and in the process, may offer some hefty discounts. So if you are up for a gamble (or you are from a Tier 1 city) this may be a good chance for you to own your dream Kawasaki!
