Bajaj July 2020 sales: Looks like the company shipped more than the demand in the first two months after lockdown; hence the equaling out in the subsequent month.
Over the past two months in May and June 2020, Bajaj was the only two-wheeler manufacturer to arrest the decline in sales, as it exports almost half of its produce. While the domestic demand was sluggish, Bajaj was seeing strong momentum in its international markets.
The two-wheeler exports by the company offset the domestic declines so well that it temporarily occupied the numero-uno spot in total sales figures in May, and came second in June 2020.
However, now when things are seemingly returning to normalcy in terms of sales numbers, the Pune-based automaker is back to its usual number 4 spot. It has ceded the top rankings to Hero, Honda, and TVS, in the same order.
Talking about the sales numbers, Bajaj Auto sold a total of 1,52,474 units of its motorcycles in the domestic market in July 2020 as compared to 1,70,978 units of July 2019. It translates to a drop of 11% in sales numbers.
Exports dropped from 1,51,232 units in July 2019 to 86,082 units in July 2020 – a significant 43% YoY slide.
During the April to June quarter, Bajaj sold 3,38,455 units as compared to 7,81,914 units in the same quarter in 2019, registering a YoY drop of around 57%.
In terms of exports, the company registered 3,00,030 units from April to June 2020, compared to 6,22,923 during the corresponding quarter in 2019 (a decline of 52% YoY).
