It was January the 28th, 2020 when the first 450X electric scooter rolled off the production line at the Ather Energy’s manufacturing plant.
Now, in just over two years, Ather have marked the achievement of rolling out their 25,000th unit off the production line. This achievement becomes even more impressive considering how the pandemic has turned the whole world and our country on to their heads.
Ather sold nearly 15,000 electric scooters in the year 2021. This is not a small number keeping this in mind that electric scooters are a relatively new alternative to traditional petrol powered scooters and not all customers are open to adopting the new mode of propulsion that easily.
However, the pandemic period combined with relentless fuel price hikes have persuaded people to come around to the idea of opting for electric two-wheelers.
This has led to an impressive growth in demand for electric scooters in our country, so much so that the manufacturers like Ather Energy are getting overwhelmed with the influx of orders from new prospective customers.

To fulfill the rapidly increasing demand, many electric two-wheeler manufacturers have started expanding their operations. Recently, Ather Energy have announced that they are establishing their second manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
The plant is said to be operational this year and will increase the manufacturing capability of the company to 4,00,000 units per year.

To further improve the production and availability of electronic components, Ather have partnered with Bharat FIH, a Foxconn Technology Group company, to manufacture and further develop key electronic components for their range of electric scooters.
As part of the agreement, Bharat FIH will manufacture Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), assemblies for Battery Management System (BMS), digital TFT displays and other electronic components. Bharat FIH have said that they have already begun the production of components for the Ather electric scooter at their facility.
