Three very different electric scooters are headed for India, with VinFast targeting the mainstream market while Ultraviolette and Honda bring their own take on urban electric mobility
India’s electric scooter market is set to get more interesting with VinFast, Ultraviolette and Honda preparing new products. While VinFast is working on India-specific scooters, Ultraviolette is preparing its first-ever electric scooter, the Tesseract. Honda, meanwhile, has already announced the QC3, a new family-focused electric scooter that will sit alongside the Activa e:.
1. VinFast Electric Scooter
VinFast is preparing to enter India’s electric two-wheeler market with India-specific electric scooters. The Vietnamese manufacturer had earlier confirmed plans to enter the segment in the second half of 2026 and is working with local suppliers to develop products specifically for India. One of the scooters could be related to the Viper sold in Vietnam.
A design patent filed in India shows a sporty scooter with large wheels, chunky tyres and a hub-mounted motor. The patented version gets a twin-pod headlamp and revised bodywork, although VinFast has not confirmed whether this particular model will be launched here. The current Viper uses a 4.8 kWh battery and 3 kW motor.
2. Ultraviolette Tesseract
The Tesseract will be a significant departure for Ultraviolette as it will be the company’s first scooter. The futuristic electric scooter was unveiled in 2025 and is now scheduled to enter the Indian market in Q1 2027. Ultraviolette has also developed a new 100V architecture for the Tesseract, aimed at delivering higher performance and faster charging.
The scooter is expected to be priced below Rs 1.5 lakh, while the company has indicated that it wants the Tesseract to eventually scale to around 10,000 units a month. Ultraviolette has also announced a new 250,000-unit annual-capacity plant in Hosur as it prepares to move beyond its premium motorcycle portfolio and into higher-volume segments.
3. Honda QC3
Honda has already announced its next electric scooter for India, the QC3. Unlike the performance-oriented Tesseract, the QC3 is designed as a practical family scooter for everyday commuting. It gets a 3 kWh battery and an IDC range of around 150 km, with Honda quoting charging to 80 percent in approximately 2 hours 40 minutes.
The QC3 also gets 32 litres of under-seat storage, a Smart Key and a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster with connected features. Honda has not yet announced its final launch price, although current industry estimates place it around the Rs 1.2 lakh mark. The scooter will complement the Activa e:, which uses a swappable two-battery setup and offers a 102 km IDC range.
