The new-gen Pulsar 125, apart from a refreshed design, also gets several premium features as it reaches dealership ahead of the launch
Bajaj Auto recently introduced two new variants in the Pulsar N160 range in the Indian market. The Pulsar N160 SS, in particular, priced at Rs 1.43 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), was presented with a first-in-segment 5-inch TFT instrument console. Now, we have learnt that the entire Pulsar range of motorcycles will get the new TFT screen in place of the LCD instrument console, starting with the new-gen Pulsar 125 and Pulsar 150. Both the Pulsar Classic series motorcycles mentioned before have been spotted with a TFT instrument cluster at Bajaj dealerships ahead of the official launch.
Recently, Hero MotoCorp updated the Xtreme 125R with a TFT screen and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Earlier, TVS and Honda introduced the Raider 125 and CB125 Hornet, respectively, with modern TFT screens. Hence, Bajaj was left with little to no choice as the Pulsar 125 was the only motorcycle in this highly competitive segment to be offered with a LCD instrument cluster.
Apart from the new TFT console, the new-gen Bajaj Pulsar 125 will also get a redesigned LED headlight and partially tweaked front fender. The position of the registration plate has been changed too as it now sits on top of the headlight. The windscreen has been retained from the outgoing model as it didn’t require any revisions and remained one of the most striking features of the Pulsar 125.
As for the side profile, the biggest change comes in the form of a modern toe-only gearshifter which replaces the toe-and-heel unit. The tank shrouds flaunt a refreshed design to lend a highly muscular look to the new-gen Pulsar 125. A few other subtle updates in the bike include plastic chain cover, dual-tone exhaust pipe, premium split grab rails, redesigned pillion footpegs, and restyled tail-lights.
Bajaj Auto has retailed a few features from the ongoing model such as the telescopic front forks, LED blinkers and 17-inch alloy wheels. The 5-inch TFT screen, borrowed from the Pulsar N160 SS, supports Bluetooth Smartphone connectivity with the riders having access to turn-by-turn navigation, calls alert, and SMS notifications. However, it misses out on Google Maps Mirroring, which is one of the most premium features of the N160 SS.
A special mention goes to the Type-C charging sport and hazard lights. In addition, the dual-shock rear suspension has gone for a toss in favour of an advanced and upmarket mono-shock unit. The current-gen Pulsar 125 is equipped with a 124.4cc single-cylinder petrol engine which is capable of churning out top power of 11.8 hp and peak torque of 10.8 Nm. The engine specs of the new-gen Pulsar 125 are likely to be revealed once it is officially launched in the market.
