In the coming 6 months, key electric two-wheeler brands such as Ather, Vida and Simple will introduce their new e-scooters in the Indian market
The electric scooter industry in India witnessed sales of more than 14 lakh units in FY26. The retail volumes are expected to grow further in FY27 due to the call for austerity measures and adoption of EVs over ICE-powered models by PM Narendra Modi. Hence, the leading electric two-wheeler brands are ready to expand their portfolio by rolling out new scooters for the Indian market. In this piece, we will talk in detail about the upcoming electric scooters launching in the next 6 months in the domestic market.
1. Ather EL01
It is likely to launch around July-August 2026 in the Indian market. The Bengaluru-based electric brand could debut the production-ready version of the EL01 electric scooter at its Annual Community Day, which is held in Aug 2026. Despite being a low-cost mass-market electric scooter, the EL01 will not be priced below Rs 1 lakh, confirmed Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy.

In Dec 2025, Ather Energy filed the design patent for the EL01 electric scooter. As per the patent images, it will ride on 14-inch front and 12-inch rear alloy wheels. The EL01 will come with a swingarm-mounted electric motor. It will be the first company model to get the Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS). In addition, the e-scooter will be presented with an onboard charger, termed as Ather Charge Drive Controller.
2. New Hero Vida Electric Scooter
Hero MotoCorp will launch a new e-scooter by Aug 2026 in the Indian market. It is likely to come with a 3.8 kWh fixed battery pack while priced below Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom). The company already retails the VX2 electric scooter in a price range of Rs 77,590-98,970 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is also available with Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model at a reduced upfront pricing of Rs 44,990 (ex-showroom).

Vida is doubling the production capacity at Sri City plant to 6.6 lakh units for the smooth roll of the upcoming budget-friendly electric scooter. The brand is also working on Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) for the upcoming two-wheeler models, including next-gen electric scooters. However, the ARAS tech is unlikely to be offered with the new electric scooter as it will be positioned as a highly affordable model.
3. Simple Family Electric Scooter
Recently, the new family electric scooter from Simple Energy was spotted testing for the first time ahead of its official launch in the later half of 2026 in India. Likely to be christened as ‘Arrive’, it will flaunt a more traditional design with a single-piece seat and a centre stand. The spied model was having the headlamp assembly mounted on the front apron along with a small windscreen.

Simple One and Simple OneS are powered by 5 kWh and 3.7 kWh battery packs as standard. It is not confirmed whether the company will use either of the aforementioned batteries in the Arrive family scooter or opt for an all-new unit designed and developed specifically for this family scooter. We feel that a 3.7 kWh battery pack with a range of 120-130 km on a single charge would be adequate for the customers.
