Yamaha Jog E electric scooter is powered by Honda Mobile Power Pack e: battery pack system in the Japanese market
Yamaha has unveiled the all-new Jog E electric scooter for the Japanese market. A few days back, it had showcased two all-new electric scooters namely Aerox-E and EC 06 for the Indian market. Yamaha Jog E comes with a detachable Honda Mobile Power Pack e: battery pack system, which we have already seen with the India-spec version of the Honda Activa electric. As per the agreement, all the Japan-based two-wheeler brands namely Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki will use a common battery pack platform.
Yamaha will only retail the Jog E electric scooter as the battery swapping will be handled entirely by Gachaco. The customers are required to deal independently with Gachaco to avail battery swapping services. Yamaha Jog E is equipped with a single 1.5 kWh Honda Mobile Power Pack e: battery pack which returns a range of 53 km on a single charge.
The removable battery of the Yamaha Jog E is paired with an AC synchronous motor which generates top power of 2.3 bhp and peak torque of 90 Nm. As far as dimensions are concerned, the electric scooter measures 1795 mm in length, 680 mm in width, and 1140 mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 135 mm while the saddle height is pegged at 740 mm.
Tipping the weighing scale at merely 93 kg, Yamaha Jog E is a proper urban commuter with no range anxiety due to adequate battery swapping infrastructure in Japan. It rides on 12-inch front and 10-inch rear wheels which are shod with 90/90 front and 100/90 rear tyres, respectively. The stopping power comes from a disc brake at front and drum brake at rear, which are linked to a combi-brake system (CBS).
Yamaha Jog E is introduced in two colour choices namely Dark Gray Metallic and Light Gray. Some of the notable features onboard the electric scooter are all-LED lighting, round rear view mirrors, USB Type-A charging socket, underseat storage area, and inverted LCD screen. The riders also have the convenience of selecting between three ride modes in the form of Econ, Ready and Speed.
Yamaha Jog E electric scooter price starts at 159,500 JPY (Around Rs 90,000) in Japan. Just so you know, this price is only for the e-scooter as the customer will need to pay separately for the battery swapping services to Gachaco. The average top speed of the Jog E is claimed to be 30 kmph. It will go on sale in two cities namely Tokyo and Osaka from Dec 25, 2025.
