Hunter specs suggest that power will be concentrated even more towards the low and mid range than other Royal Enfields…
Royal Enfield has officially unveiled its Hunter 350 – the motorcycle that is poised to be the entry into the Chennai based maker’s portfolio. It is offered in two variants – Retro and Metro (Metro also has an addition sub-variant called as Metro Rebel).
The Hunter gets power from the same 349cc, single cylinder, air-oil cooled engine of the new Classic 350 and produces the exact same power output of 20.2 bhp at 6100 rpm and 27 Nm of max torque at 4000 rpm. The same 5-speed gearbox has gone onto the bike but we hear that gearing has been altered to suit the new roadster-like application.
Hunter 350 tips the scale at 181 kg which makes it significantly (around 14-15 kg) lighter than the Classic 350. The motorcycle that has a seat height of 800 mm, comes with a ground clearance of 150.5 mm. It gets smaller 17 inch tyres – 140/70 at the front and 110/70 at the rear.
Surprisingly, the Hunter 350 has a claimed top speed of 114 km/h which is attained at 7000 rpm (according to RE). This is lower than Ronin’s claimed max speed of 119-120 km/h despite a bigger engine and higher engine specs. It appears that Hunter will be even more concentrated in the low and mid revs than other Royal Enfields.
The company is offering the motorcycle with the option of both Single channel ABS as well as dual channel ABS. It has a fuel tank capacity of 13 liter and comes with 300 mm front disc and 270 mm rear disc.

Now what remains to be seen is how low will Royal Enfield go in pricing its new Hunter. And will its fans like the city roadster that is slightly smaller than the rest. Price reveal is scheduled for 7th August.
