Ninja 300 vs CB300R sales: A tale of two opposite schools of thought. While Kawasaki is putting in a lot of effort, Honda is keeping CB300R’s production restricted!
Ninja 300 has always been a brilliant motorcycle and ever since its enhanced localisation (read price reduction), it has become the most sought after sports motorcycle in the segment.
Not only is it outselling its immediate rival Yamaha R3 consistently, it has beaten some cheaper, single cylinder motorcycles in the month of July 2019. Kawasaki Ninja 300 registered dispatches of 135 units last month which are 25 units higher than the preceding month of June 2019.

Cheaper motorcycles which Ninja 300 have outsold include Honda twins – both CBR 250R as well as CB300R. Both the CBs from Honda could only amass 111 units (CB300R = 63 units & CBR 250R = 48 units) in July 2019. For the month of June 2019, these two motorcycles managed 131 units combined with the 300R continuing to outdo its faired sibling.
Other single cylinder motorcycles which the costlier Ninja 300 outperformed were – Royal Enfield Bullet 500 (94 units) and Thunderbird 500 (84 units). For this complete year ie from January 2019, Kawasaki has managed to dispatch exactly 1000 units in the first seven months ie till July. In May 2019, Ninja 300 equalled Apache 310’s sales (details here).

All the localised units of Ninja 300 were recently recalled for faulty master cylinder related issues. Competition has been squaring up against Ninja 300 – there have been rumours of the new-gen R3 making its way into India, Benelli slashed prices of its 302R earlier this year and then there is this new entrant CFMoto which is harping on very aggressive pricing of its motorcycles…
