UM is cooking up a lot of plans to make their Indian foray big. They started with Renegade twins and will introduce three new models in India very soon. But all these three will be based on the existing platform and will feature the 279 cc single cylinder engine from the present crop.
The next big thing from United Motorcycles will be a twin cylinder mid-capacity engine. In an interaction with Indianautosblog, Mr Rajeev Mishra, Head of Indian operations of UML, revealed that the new engine will have a displacement of nearly 400 cc. It will be a V-Twin and water cooled. He elaborated that the first motorcycle model to make use of this motor will be an adventure tourer, name of which has not been made public yet.

Rajeev also shared that they plan to introduce the motorcycle by as early as October-November 2017 period and if there are delays, they are sure that it will be on offer at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The other motorcycles to use this engine will be the new, bigger Renegade cruisers which are also scheduled for a showdown early next year.
If UM can set themselves up across the nation by that time and introduce these twin-cylinder motorcycles at attractive prices, we do see them making inroads into the segment which is currently costly and dominated by the Japs.
