Ahead of Karizma, More Powerful Xtreme 200S Launched; List of All Changes

As was expected and in the news as well, Hero MotoCorp has updated its faired sports motorcycle Xtreme 200S in India. It was the only motorcycle in the company’s premium portfolio that was carrying the older engine. This comes just after Hero introduced the Xtreme 160R 4V in the market.

The 200S comes with a 4-valve treatment that gives it some more juice. It now churns 6 percent higher power and 5 percent more torque than before. It produces 19.1 PS of peak power at 8000 rpm and 17.35 Nm of max torque at 6500 rpm. This is 1 PS and 1.20 Nm higher than the older 2 Valve version. The motor, that continues with the same 5 speed gearbox, is now OBD2 and E20 compliant.

  • New Handlebar – The updated version comes with new clip-ons that will change the rider posture a bit.
  • Tyre Hugger – Enhancing the sportiness of the motorcycle is a new rear tyre hugger.
  • Brakes – Xtreme 200S now comes with petal discs – that Hero says offer better stopping power. It continues with the Single channel ABS as before.
  • Dual-Tone Livery – Hero is offering the Xtreme 200S in a set of three new dualtone colors – Moon Yellow, Panther Black Metallic and Stealth Edition.
  • Gear Ratios – Hero informs that gearing has also been altered and the motorcycle now offers better acceleration and is more tractable as well.

Aside that the new Xtreme 200S offers LED headlamps, LCD instrumentation that shows gear indicator, eco mode, trip meter and service reminder. It also gets Phone pairability that offers features such as turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts, etc.

Hero is charging a premium of Rs 5890 over the older model for all the new updates and the fresh new decals. The motorcycle is available across all Hero dealerships in the country and rivals the much more powerful Pulsar RS200.

Interestingly, this comes at a time when the country’s largest manufacturer is almost ready with the new Karizma.
