2021 Yamaha R3 Unveiled; Gets Interesting Teal Color

2021 Yamaha R3 revealed; goes to USA and few other countries. The very un-Yamaha like Teal color is an interesting addition…

The Japanese auto-major, Yamaha has taken wraps off the 2021 Yamaha R3 in the USA. While the updated version of the 300 cc motorcycle does not get any mechanical changes, there are changes to the color palette. The Matte Silver shade has been dropped and in place there is a new Electric Teal color. And the black color has been named as Matte Stealth Black from Matte Black (we can not spot any changes to it though).

Design-wise, it remains the same as the internationally available 2020 R3 (India has not received it yet). The Electric Teal color option is undoubtedly eye-catching. It gets a vibrant look and has shades of black at the front fairing and near the headlight section. Apart from that, there are contrast orange/red colored alloy wheels, which remind us of the KTMs.

The motorcycle was also available (the previous generation model, though) here in India, but it was discontinued earlier this year as the nation progressed to the new BS6 emission norms. It is not clear whether the new US-Spec R3 is EURO 5 compliant or not. However, we expect Yamaha to launch this new 2021 model in India as well, obviously with Bharat Stage 6 emission norms (roughly equivalent to Euro-5 emission norms).

Mechanically, the motorcycle continues with the same parallel-twin, 321 cc, 8-valve, DOHC engine. Power and torque figures are not given on the US website. It also continues to weigh the same 375 lb (170 kg) but the change is that there is no non-ABS version now.

The Electric Teal & Team Yamaha Blue shades will be available by November whereas the Matte Stealth Black will reach dealerships by December this year.
