All New Yamaha MT-09 Unveiled; Gets Bigger, More Powerful

2021 Yamaha MT09 is a bigger, lighter and comprehensively changed hyper naked. It is expected to reach dealerships within next few months…

Yamaha has updated its hyper-naked MT-09 to a new generation model. The streetfighter gets all-new with comprehensive changes to almost everything.

The styling, specially the headlamp, does not boast a pleasing-all persona but the concept of minimum bodywork remains.

It now comes with a slightly bigger, three cylinder, 889 cc engine (resultant of a bigger bore) mostly because of the Euro 5 compliance. As a result, peak power has risen to 119 PS – a 4 PS jump along with a maximum torque of 93 Nm which is 5.5 Nm higher. The torque also peaks 1500 rpm earlier in the range.

It also gets new camshafts, crankcase, pistons, rods, fuel injection, etc. And then there is an all new Deltabox chassis as well. Yamaha’s focus has been on weight shaving and at 189 kg kerb, the 2021 MT-09 is full 4 kilos lighter than the older model. This is despite the bigger engine and other improvements.
